Website Design Process

  • Phase 1—Planning: You complete the web-design brief, and from there we start planning the layout and structure of your site - in consultation with you. We sketch out a layout, and build from there, incorporating "ease of use" techniques for intuitive browsing for the end-user.

  • Phase 2 - Coming Soon Page Construction: After we've been made aware of the look and feel you require, we get about designing you a simple coming soon page based on your desired colours and feel. The coming soon page typically has a newsletter sign up box, encouraging visitors to enter their email address to be notified of the website launch, but it is totally up to you which information you would like included on the page. After your final design approval, your coming soon page will go 'live' on the web at the designated domain.

  • Phase 2 - Information Gathering: During this stage, you will be sent a comprehensive 'webdesign checklist' entailing all of the details we need you to supply to us. From here you will gather necessary information and get your product imagery and pricing, postage, and other relevant information.

You will also be asked to supply your webpage copy. You can either write the text for each web page, or work with one of our copywriters.

  • Phase 4 —Design: We provide you with anywhere up to 3 initial design concepts (if necessary). Generally the website design doesn't require that many initial concepts as your branding and colours are generally established prior to web design commencement.

The initial concepts will show the "frame" for the pages—the basic navigation and design scheme that will remain the same across all of the pages of the site. From there we will work in close consultation with you to tweak and revise the website design until you are completely satisfied.

  • Phase 5 —Coding: Once the design is "approved" we start coding the backend /pages of the website. Once the template is created, we show you a HTML version and you will be given an opportunity to make minor revisions until you are satisfied.

  • Phase 6 —Implementation: The text and required images for the site are placed into the page template and formatted. For e-commerce websites, this is the point where the shopping cart aspect is integrated with the website template, and the shop layout is completed.

We offer two rounds of revisions for client-requested changes during this phase, so you can make text edits and corrections after you see the text in the pages.

  • Phase 7 - Stocking the shelves: At this point, you are required to stock the shelves of your shop (brochure sites skip this phase!). You will upload your product images and include product descriptions of all of your products, as well as pricing - This is done through the backend of the shopping cart, with an easy-to-use administration panel. We will guide you through this process, and will be on hand to answer questions should they arise. If you would like us to stock the shop on your behalf, we are happy to oblige for a fee.

  • Phase 8 —Testing: We conduct testing with Internet Explorer and Firefox to ensure pages render correctly. Other browser testing is available.

  • Phase9—Launch: We launch the site! After the site is live, we also submit it to the major search engines on your behalf, and you are now set up and ready to go!
